I'm thinking of using GJ Gardner for a new home. I've heard very mixed comments (good and bad) about their services. Have you used GJ Gardner for a new home or know anyone with good experiences using them?

Some friends built with them and wouldn't again, major delays and they weren't happy with service perhaps they were unlucky.

While I haven't used them I know they have a very good reputation. Have you looked at alternatives as there are a lot of firms out there?

MMmmm...aa, interesting to hear adverse remarks regarding GJs.
I have had a couple of possitive recommendations for their work.
Have anyone had run ins with the West Auck franchise?
Are there any recommendations out there on what one can do to minimise or prevent being burnt
cheers

with GJ Gardner, who have built our new home. Probably depends on the franchise you deal with

In my line of work I deal with over 50 different housing companies including GJ Gardner. In my area I deal with there are four GJ Gardner franchises - its interesting to see how differently each franchise is managed, their market and importantly their finished results.

The nearest GJ Gardner to my office build the cheapest houses in town, using the cheapest materials and screwing the tradesmen right down on pricing, therefore workmanship is pretty average.
At the soutern end of my terriotory, GJ Gardner are very professional, use quality materials (not always the cheapest) and have prooven experienced tradesmen providing a high standard of finishing.

Your experiences quoted on this forum should be directed at those franchises independently.

Remember each franchise is owned and managed independently, what "John Doe" homes in Whangarei does should have no impact on "John Doe" homes in Invercargill!!

Hi,

the fact that those horrible Shocked Shocked Shocked aluminium windows Shocked Shocked Shocked are standard in GJ Gardner Homes is a good reason to stay away from them..........

I too built with GJ Gardner homes Papakura/Franklin approx 18 months ago and found them to be nothing but professional and helpful, not to mention the fantastic house I ended up with. We had an extremly tricky site to start with and they worked everything out for us. We are now in the process of building with them again and so far we have had no problems. I guess it all comes down to letting them do their thing until the end and trusting that they will build a great house, and in my case they have!
