Heritage Design Group is part of HDG Architecture, an architecture and design practice based in Auckland, working all over the country. We focus on homes for real people to live in - additions, alterations, and restorations to older heritage homes, and design and construction of environmentally sustainable new homes including the revolutionary Ebode modular eco house. We apply sustainable design principles and specify environmentally friendly materials on renovations and new homes alike, to minimise the effect of all building on our environment. We also specialise in designing or adapting homes to be self-sufficient in heating and cooling, energy use, water consumption and waste disposal.

We believe it is possible to live an environmentally responsible 21st Century lifestyle in any home - whether it be a purpose-built 'eco-friendly' new home, or a carefully renovated historic home. Careful design, selection of building materials and sustainable building practices ensure that our new homes work with the environment, rather than destroying it; while our renovations aim to preserve our architectural history as well as re-using and recycling the whole building - the ultimate in environmental sustainability.
